‘Queen of Seam’ Kapp’s 5-Star Spell Decimates England

by admin477351

Marizanne Kapp, the “queen of seam,” delivered a five-star, 125-run victory for South Africa, decimating England’s batting lineup to send her team to their first-ever 50-over World Cup final. Her spell of five for 20 was a masterclass.

Kapp, who extracted “both-ways movement off the pitch,” set the tone with a devastating double-wicket maiden. She bowled Amy Jones with the “ball of the day” and then dismissed Heather Knight for a duck.

This left England at one for three, a hole too deep to escape. After a 107-run stand, Kapp returned to finish the job.

She dismissed Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophia Dunkley, and Charlie Dean, all “nicking off behind the stumps.” Her performance also made her the all-time leading wicket-taker in 50-over World Cups.

Kapp’s brilliance, combined with Laura Wolvaardt’s 169, ensured England were never in the game, eventually being bowled out for 194.
