In a series of remarks on Wednesday, former US President Donald Trump expressed high confidence in his popularity in Israel, humorously suggesting that he could run for the position of Prime Minister. During the discussion, Trump also extended praise to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid ongoing tensions involving Iran. Trump’s comments were captured in videos shared on X, where he responded to questions concerning Netanyahu’s stance on Iran.

Addressing Netanyahu directly, Trump stated, “He’s fine. He’ll do whatever I want him to do. He’s a very good man.” He further described Netanyahu as a “great guy” and a “wartime prime minister,” while also implying that Netanyahu was not receiving fair treatment in Israel. The former president suggested that his own approval ratings in Israel were exceedingly high, humorously claiming, “I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I could run for prime minister.”

Trump mentioned a poll that allegedly placed his popularity at 99% in Israel, adding, “So maybe after I do this, I’ll go to Israel, run for prime minister.” He also criticized the current Israeli leadership dynamics, implying that Netanyahu was being poorly treated by Israel’s president.

These comments from Trump come at a time when Israeli lawmakers are advancing a bill that could dissolve parliament, potentially leading to new elections. Trump also addressed the escalating tensions with Iran, indicating that the United States is nearing a critical juncture. “We’re in the final stages of Iran,” he said, hinting at possible outcomes, “Either have a deal, or we’re going to do some things that are a little bit nasty.”

Furthermore, Trump reportedly noted that Iran’s air force and navy had been significantly weakened, cautioning that military action could become “even harder” if Tehran does not agree to a deal. Despite the heightened tensions, diplomatic negotiations between Washington and Tehran are said to be continuing.
