The United States has intensified its military operations against Iranian targets, marking a significant escalation in Middle East tensions following a brief lull. This action comes in response to Iran’s recent assault on a U.S. military base in Jordan, which houses American personnel. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning, promising a “very hard” response to Tehran’s provocations.
U.S. Central Command reported that American forces conducted a series of strikes over a two-hour window, targeting numerous sites associated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. These targets included military command centers, facilities for missiles and drones, and coastal defense and surveillance installations. Iranian sources noted explosions on Qeshm Island near the strategic Strait of Hormuz and in the Khuzestan province, with state media reporting at least two injuries resulting from the attacks.
This renewed military engagement follows previous strikes on Iran-backed militias in Iraq, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of several fighters and Iranian advisors. The current situation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict as diplomatic efforts to revive talks between Washington and Tehran remain at a standstill.
The escalation has also impacted global energy markets, with Brent crude oil prices surging over 7%. The rise in prices reflects market concerns about potential disruptions to oil supply routes in the Middle East, a critical region for global energy transit.
